I asked Grok AI “can this Wybot A1 work in my 5,000 water tank?”
I got a page and half of very detailed information basically stating that yes, it should do a great job cleaning the dirt off the floor of your water tank. As you can see it filled up the Wybot with fine white sand that had been pumped up from the water well. I did empty the tank and hose it out as best as I could without climbing down into the tank and doing a more thorough job and spent at least 4 hours doing that. I am just guessing that I will get about 5 more loads of sand before the Wybot has finished its job. You just toss the Wybot into the opening of the tank and come back the next day with a long poll and attache hook and pull it out. Cleaning the Wybot is about a 15 minute job. For the price of $179 that is a lot less than emptying the tank and spending hours cleaning it out, not to mention the price of changing water filters in your home. Wybot doesn’t even mention using their pool cleaners as tank cleaners, and it works great!
Update! You can set this Wybot in the water at the opening of your water tank with the bottom facing down and let go. It gently sinks to the bottom without flipping over and lands perfectly. I tied a rope around the handle to make it much easier to pull it back out and that works perfectly as well. Once it is at the bottom of your tank you can give it a couple more feet of rope so it can reach all areas of the bottom of the tank. The rope does not appear to get tangled under the Wybot. You can also spin the water tank lid closed with the rope on the far side of the opening and set the lid just tight enough so it will not open from any wind and it will hold the rope in place. No need to fish the Wybot out with a poll. Just pull it up with the rope. This means you could put it in a tank that is 15 feet or more tall and have no problem getting this Wybot in and out with a rope. The rope really makes all of this very easy!
I have dumped about five of these and each time is less sand. It’s working!
As seen in this drawing the tank opening is 24″ or 2 feet. The Wybot A1 easily fits through the opening. I have a shut off flooter right in the middle of the opening that is an easy twist off to get it out of the way. I don’t even need to do that as the Wybot can pass through sideways as I lower it into the water tank with a rope and remove it the same way. It couldn’t be any easier. It’s a 15 minute job. Set it and forget it and get back the next day or in a few days. The battery only lasts about 2 hours and as you can see it fills up the Wybot in 2 hours. Happy Cleaning!
