6-15-19 Installed Septic Genie. Water, Septic Tanks, Leach Lines, Drywells – Got a problem with any of these? The Septic Genie will solve them and for very little money compared to all the other options especially replacing the old ones for new ones. The Septic Genie saved my butt! I had a $50,000 to $100,000 Dry Well problem and Septic Genie solved it for $1,000. Priceless! Septic Genie is an aerobic septic system vs anaerobic septic system and that makes a big difference! The bacteria it creates gobbles up the all the waste in your septic tank. The sludge buildup in your leach line or drywells that accumulates over a 25-year period will block it all up and stop the ability to drain and that will require you to build another one to replace the old system. I researched the large city sewage plants to see how they handled all of that and found out they use aerobic vs anaerobic to pump air into their systems. The bacteria they use requires air to live, thrive, and gobble up the waste products. The Septic Genie has a unit you lower into your septic tank and then a small air pump that stays above ground and pumps air into the Septic Genie. The air bubbles that rise up keeps the bacteria alive. Ther bacteria starts by dropping a small waxy looking tablet about the size and weight of a bar of soap which costs $50. They recommend one tablet per year or more if needed. Because I have a larger system with six people, I use 3 to 4 tablets per year. At first, I thought it was a scam because it hardly worked for the first year. They said my system was 25 years old and sometimes it takes that long to clean things out and start working properly. I always open my septic tank every other month to check it out and clean the filter that stops any large particles from leaving my septic tank and flowing into and down my drywall. One day after about 14 months I took out the filter and while hosing it down I heard a loud sucking noise coming from my septic tank. I looked in and saw a whirlpool of water being sucked down into my drywall. To my amazement my clogged-up drywell was now working like new again! We also have replaced all of our toilet seats with bidet toilet seats from Home Depot for about $100. We also never put any paper products down the toilet. Our septic system has been running like new now for the last 3 years and I fully expect it will need to be pumped clean and will last for another 50 to 100 years. It’s hard to say how long it will really last and my worries are over for what I feel is a long time. You can always tell when it needs another tablet as it the septic tank start to smell really bad like most do all the time. If it’s working properly there is very little to no smell. If there ever appears to be a large amount of sludge at the bottom of the septic tank, I just put in more tablets and the sludge gets gobbled up and goes away. My suggestion is to start using the Septic Genie long before you need it, and you will not have to wait as long as we did to get a system that works like new and never needs to be pumped clean.
8-19-24 Update – After 5 years of using the Septic Genie. I still think it is the best ever. I have learned you do still have to pump your septic tank clean once the slug gets too high. For me it’s been 5 years and other homes will be different depending on the size and usage. I am fine doing that every 5 years as needed. The worst thing that you can do with your septic tank is let the slug build up to the point where it starts to flow into your leach lines or dry wells. Yes, Septic Genie will reduce slug and extend the time before you need to pump your tank and even help to clean out your leach lines and dry wells, but not if you let the slug flow in them. It’s also very important to use bidet toilet seats and put no paper products or hair or harsh chemicals in your toilets. Having a gray water system where the only water flowing to your septic tank is you toilets will also extend the time between pumping the septic tank and extend the life of your leach lines and dry wells. During the difficult times when the stores run out of toilet paper that will not be a problem for you, if you are using bidets.
