Corporate Power
As much as we might like
to eliminate corporate power we will see that in a
world where everyone is included, no one left out,
corporate power will be here when we need
it. Corporations will see that we are no
longer dependant and powerless. In turn they
will listen to our request, "Provide us with the
clean green power and we will pay for it when WE
need it".
Who would you have to be to play this game?
Everyone Included, No One Left Out!
In a world that everyone is included and no one left
out we need corporate power to re-charge our electric
cars. We need it for those long trips where we
cannot connect to our personal power source, solar and
wind generators, and our standard utility company at
home when we need it.
We thought converting all highways to solar power and
feeding that back to electric cars would be a good idea.
The problem is who would pay for it? You and me
through increased taxes. This is not a good idea!
So what are the possible options? All
restaurants, shopping malls, hotels and motels, that see the
opportunity will be our future and convenient Corporate
Power Stations and we will forever, with a big smile,
wave good bye to the gas stations. Imagine, no
more waiting in line at the gas station to pump the ever
increasing price of gas. No more wars fighting
over fossil fuels. What a concept!
Scalable Corporate Power
Imagine you are driving long distance and you are
running out of power. You press your GPS system
and up pops the nearest location for a Re-Charge It
Power Station, a
local restaurant with preferred parking! You are
so smart! You even have a
ZEV parking decal on
your windshield, the Parking Pass for the Parking Space.
You pull up to the restaurant and there are the usual
handicap parking spaces right up front. The next
best parking spaces are just a few for "Electric Cars"
and these spaces are scalable. The more you need
the more parking spaces you equip for charging cars.
The restaurant marks up their cost of electricity to
gain a profit. Once they install the solar and
wind generators their profit greatly increases.
This creates a new income stream for the restaurant and
decrease the demand from the utility companies.
You drive into your parking space, plug in your car,
take note of the space number, walk into the restaurant.
While you wait for your table you run your credit card
through a reader and enter your parking space number. Your car is
fully charged in 10 minutes while your eat.
Now that is service and you have just helped to clean
up the environment and end all wars over fossil fuels!
Time to enjoy a good meal. What car charges in 10
minutes? Check out the
Zap-X or convert the car you currently own at
Left Coast Eclectic or a similar company.
Corporate Power Distribution
What corporations, restaurant chains, and shopping
malls, and motels will see the opportunity and take action first?
We will be contacting them to see. Who will
sponsor the Personal Power Project to help get "Our
Word" out so it begins working for you, me, and the rest
of the world?
Bring anyone and everyone to us that is interested in this
project and we will promote those companies and
locations that take action. We are looking for
volunteers and we will put you through a three month
training program that will prepare you for a full time
paid position.
We are the clearing
house for helping to make it happen and to keep the
information coming your way through the Personal Power
Project web site.
The human race is not a parasite that will eventually
kill this planet. We are a race that is full of
love and compassion and we are making this planet a truly exciting and better place to live
for each new generation, one person and one generation
at a time.
The cost of a KWH from the electric
grid varies considerably depending
on location and time of use.
Usually, off-peak hours, from 9PM to
10AM will have the lowest rates from
one’s electric utility provider.
This will require a special meter
that not all homes have.
The map above shows the average
retail price of electricity in the
U.S. by state in 2003. It ranges
from around 6 cents/KWH to 17
cents/KWH. The U.S. average for 2007
is 10.65 cents. To see the numbers
for the current year click
here. If we use the average, the
cost to recharge the Volt will be
$0.85, and the range for 2007 will
be from 48 cents to $1.34 depending
where you live. Clearly for 40 miles
of driving at present gas and
electric prices, there will be a
very significant cost savings. Of
course, there is some uncertainty of
where these numbers will be when the
Volt arrives in 2010.
After the first 40 miles, the
combustion engine generator will
kick in. This will keep the battery
at a 30% state of charge. This
3-cylinder 1L engine will get 50
mpg
fuel efficiency. To calculate
the fuel efficiency for drives
longer than 40 miles use the
following formula: Total MPG =
55*M/(M-40)
ENERGY DIVERSITY AND
SECURITY
There is also strong energy
security value for driving this car.
The following graph illustrates
where the power of the electric grid
comes from:
Certainly the renewable sector
has room to grow, but overall you
can see that coal, of which the U.S.
has a tremendous supply, is the main
source of electric energy. So in
actuality, the Volt is a
coal-burning car.
This may dissatisfy certain
environmentalists. But widespread
adoption of this vehicle will likely
lead to increased consumer adoption
of home-generated renewable energy
such as solar panels, whose prices
are dropping and efficiencies are
increasing. This will allow one to
drive “for free” and be independent.

Reader reaction to last week's
California Air Resources Board
vote to cut the ZEV Mandate by
70 percent was pretty
resoundingly negative (although
it's only fair to note some of
you said the result was a good
thing). Automotive News' Richard
Truett has written an article
that finds the decision's silver
lining: it created a "sizable"
market for plug-in hybrids.
While pure EVs took a hit in the
revision, automakers are now
required to sell 66,000 PHEVs
between 2012 and 2014.
Considering you can't buy a
single one today, this would be
a nice change. Truett notes that
Chrysler, Honda and Nissan could
be face "major headaches" to
comply with the rule, since they
don't have any PHEVs in
development. At least, there are
no public plans for such
vehicles from these companies.
Smart grid PHEV charging
technology is here, at least in
testing form. What plug-in
vehicles will we Californians
(and people in the dozen or so
states that adopt California's
auto rules) be able to buy in
2012?[Source: Richard Truett
